PKB Zmaj: A new variety of winter rye created at PKB Agroekonomik institute

نویسندگان

چکیده

For the last twenty years, in addition to breeding wheat, PKB Agroekonomik Institute has been working very intensively on other real or bread grains. High-yielding, late winter rye variety Zmaj obtained by pedigree method a simple crossing of genetically different parents from collection Institute: Rtanj and line PKB-R-105. This combines genes responsible for high yield potential, resistance lodging, low temperatures more significant diseases rye. Winter was registered Ministry Agriculture, Forestry Water Management Republic Serbia 2018. With use optimal agricultural techniques, genetic potential fertility adaptation climatic soil conditions.

PI3K-PKB/Akt pathway.

Identification of the phosphoinositide-3-kinase–protein kinase B/Akt (PI3K-PKB/Akt) pathway and activating receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) began in earnest in the early 1980s through vigorous attempts to characterize insulin receptor signaling (for review, see Alessi 2001; Brazil and Hemmings 2001). These humble beginnings led to the identification of the components and mechanism of insulin re...

AKT/PKB Signaling: Navigating Downstream

The serine/threonine kinase Akt, also known as protein kinase B (PKB), is a central node in cell signaling downstream of growth factors, cytokines, and other cellular stimuli. Aberrant loss or gain of Akt activation underlies the pathophysiological properties of a variety of complex diseases, including type-2 diabetes and cancer. Here, we review the molecular properties of Akt and the approache...

Kinetic mechanism of AKT/PKB enzyme family.

AKT/PKB is a phosphoinositide-dependent serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a critical role in the signal transduction of receptors. It also serves as an oncogene in the tumorigenesis of cancer cells when aberrantly activated by genetic lesions of the PTEN tumor suppressor, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, and receptor tyrosine kinase overexpression. Here we have characterized and compared...

AKT/PKB Signaling: Navigating the Network.

The Ser and Thr kinase AKT, also known as protein kinase B (PKB), was discovered 25 years ago and has been the focus of tens of thousands of studies in diverse fields of biology and medicine. There have been many advances in our knowledge of the upstream regulatory inputs into AKT, key multifunctional downstream signaling nodes (GSK3, FoxO, mTORC1), which greatly expand the functional repertoir...

A novel substrate mimetic inhibitor of PKB/Akt inhibits prostate cancer tumor growth in mice by blocking the PKB pathway.

We describe a novel, potent peptide substrate mimetic inhibitor of protein kinase B (PKB/Akt). The compound selectively kills prostate cancer cells, in which PKB is highly activated, but not normal cells, or cancer cells in which PKB is not activated. The inhibitor induces apoptosis and inhibits the phosphorylation of PKB substrates in prostate cancer cell lines and significantly increases the ...
